Segment Permissions - Select Segments Without Data View Access

This feature improves access control in segments by allowing users to select and use existing segments without giving access to full data-level details.

Users who work on segmentation often need to include existing segments while creating new ones, but they do not need to see raw data or detailed data information. With this update, users can now select existing segments in the segment screen without requiring the View Data permission. This means they can focus on segmentation tasks without being exposed to data they do not need or should not access.

As a result, roles can be defined more flexibly while still maintaining strong data privacy and security.

How to Access and Configure

Permissions are managed from the Roles & Permissions settings.

Navigate to Settings > Identity & Access Management > Roles & Permissions. From the roles listing page, you can open an existing role or create a new one. In the role details screen, scroll down to the Data Space section.

The Data Space section includes multiple permissions. For this feature, two specific permissions are relevant.

View Segment/Table allows users to see and select existing segments and tables. View Data controls access to detailed data information and raw data content. These permissions work independently, so you can allow segment selection without granting data-level visibility.

The Select Segments Without Data View Access feature enables safer and more precise role definitions. It improves usability for segmentation-focused users, protects sensitive data, and supports scalable segmentation workflows without unnecessary data exposure.
