Remote Segment Columns - Customization
Remote Segment Columns – Customization allows you to use columns returned from a remote source segment as dynamic variables while creating content. Once a remote-source based segment is selected, its result columns become available for personalization across all channels.
This feature helps you personalize messages using data coming directly from a remote segment.
Using Remote Segment Columns in Content
To use remote segment columns, start by creating or opening a content item such as an Email, Onsite message, In-App message, or WhatsApp content.
In the editor, click the Add Customization icon. This action opens the Customization Modal, where the columns received from the saved remote segment are listed and can be inserted as dynamic variables into your content. Any changes made to the segment and saved will be automatically reflected in the Customization Modal.
Inside the modal, open the Columns from Remote Segment tab. Here, you will see all columns that were returned by the selected remote segment. Selecting a column inserts it into the content as a dynamic variable, which will be replaced with real values when the message is delivered.

Columns From Remote Segment
This behavior is consistent across all channel editors, allowing you to personalize content in the same way regardless of channel.
Previewing Personalized Content
When previewing content or a campaign that uses a remote segment, the system displays sample data from the selected segment. Upon clicking Preview, a sample row is fetched from the remote segment query result.
All inserted variable placeholders are replaced with their corresponding sample values, allowing you to verify how the personalized content will appear to end users. If you switch to a different segment, the preview updates automatically to reflect the newly selected segment’s data.
This feature makes it easy to personalize content using data from remote source segments, without any extra configuration. By turning remote segment columns into usable variables, you can create more relevant and consistent experiences across all channels.
